BINAURAL PHASING

RESOLUTION OF THE REAL : IMAGINARY RATIO

There are basically two different styles of biofeedback currently in use. The most common EEG biofeedback and neurofeedback are based on the idea that a person can learn to ellicit certain brainwave responses, and thus mood/behavior by receiving cues as to when they are either in or out of the desired a state. The biometric of choice for such procedures is usually EEG analysis, which is based on the well-known theory of brainwave clustering...the so-called sub-delta, delta, theta, alpha, beta, gamma model.

For example if alpha is the chosen desired state, then presenting a tone when one produces alpha can help them learn how to identify that state. Conversely, if the intention is to limit a certain band, then feedback that warns a person they are entering that band can help them learn how to avoid or lessen it's influence.

The second and less common method of biofeedback uses actual vibrational signatures from an individual as feedback signals to "drive them at their own natural resonance". Whereas brainwaves and heartbeats can serve as useful biometrics for such methods, the measurement of choice is a spectral analysis of a person's voice. Whereas brainwaves reveal how a person is thinking, and heartbeats the way in which they are feeling, the voice contains an instantaneous mixture of both, as it responds immediately to changes both inside and out.

In addition, while brainwaves and heartbeats both contain real and imaginary components the voice is more present and sensitive to changes in the respective actual and potential components (those that come from the actualized body versus those that come from potential spirit). The voice accurately represents the complex personality of the individual as it struggles to balance, synchronize, and resolve the difference between these two seemingly opposite realities. And finally, the voice is the mechanism given to us by our source and evolution to communicate and express who and what we are and what we want out of life..our manner of being and doing...our "state and rule spaces".

Many of the sinewave partials in the human voice are contained within the breath that is carrying that voice. In other words, much of what we hear when we listen to a person speak is coming from their breath. The way we breathe reveals how we aspire to be. In fact, aspiration originally was a term used to define the act of breathing and voicing at the same time. However, for some reason, aspiration has become more associated with the mechanical process of suction. Breath is the fundamental biochronological cycle. According to some researchers, breath begins the moment to moment cycle of life followed by the cranio-sacral pulse, heartbeat, brainwave, and finally the circadian and ultradian rhythms.

The way one inhales and exhales shows how they take in and put out life by revealing the essence of the entire cycle from beginning thru reversal and back again to the beginning. For all these reasons and more, breath is the biometric of choice for analyzing a person's current physical, mental/emotional, and spiritual state, and for gathering the resources necessary for their change, growth, and eventual transformation...their natural evolution.

By now, most people interested in light, sound, and vibration technologies, as well as, music have come across the concepts of entrainment and binuaral beats. Entrainment is a process whereby one system is entrained by another via the process of sympathetic resonance. For example, the brain will (after a few minutes of exposure) begin to follow or vibrate at the same rate as a light flashing or sound pulsing at some known rate. For this reason entrainment is also known as "frequency following response".

Binaural beats are vibrations caused by the superimposition of two or more waves upon each other. The multiple waves mix together, which creates additional waves. When these mixtures are incoherent out-of-phase destructive combinations, the waves cancel each other out. However, when they complement each other by being coherent and in-phase, they enhance each other and create multiple peaks or beats that represent the differences in freuquency between the original waves. When there are only two original waves they are called binaural frequencies or sometimes...binaural beats. For example, if one frequency of 100Hz (cycles per second) is put in the left earpiece of a stereo headphone, and 108Hz. is placed in the other, a third frequency of 8Hz. can be heard, even though it is really not even there!

Research has shown that the brain is forced into resolving the difference between the two frequencies by producing this third associative binaural beat. This phenomemon can be put to good use in vibrational therapy because of the limitations of technology. Even state of the art stereo components and speakers cannot produce frequencies below about 20Hz. In addition, the human ear cannot hear below this range. If a therapist desires to use a frequency in the lower brainwave range (1.5 to 20Hz.) it is therefore not possible with current technology. However, using binaural beats to create the low frequency is easily accomplished. Also, there is evidence that the brain likes this kind of left/right stimulation and responds well to it, leading to whole-brain synchrony. Therefore, Binaural therapy has become a well-accepted idea among alternative specialists.

HRT utilizes a newly discovered phenomenon that is the next logical step beyond the binaural experience. We call it...binaural phasing. The concept is the same with regard to use of two different waves, but in the former that means two different frequencies whereas in the latter in means two different phasings of the same frequency (see diagram below). To arrive at two different phases of the same frequency it is necessary to separate the real and imaginary components. These two components represent the actual and potential parts of the signal. Part of what we say comes from our physical actualized body whereas some comes from the way we feel about what we are saying...our potential spiritual self. In scientific terms these two are called the sine and cosine waves, which operate at 90 degree angles from each other.

Our Vector Farm supercomputer can separate and analyze these two waves and therefore use them in place of the two different frequencies. For example, the right ear may receive a higher magnitude sound at either 0 or 180 degrees of phase, while the left ear gets a lower magnitude version of the same frequency at 90 or 270 degrees. If resolving the difference between two different frequencies can lead to whole-brain balance, then resolving the difference between real and imaginary can lead to balance between a person's actual and potential self. All human suffering stems from the difference between who we say we are and who we really are. Resolving the difference can lead to health, happiness, and fulfillment.

In addition to this binaural phasing of stereo headphones, the HRT program allows for a second channel of output to be used as a binaural vibrotactile feedback, in addition to the spectral essence matrices...real, imaginary and complex visual representatives of the optimized and harmonized essence of the person's personality. In other words, in HRT, there are three main modes of biofeedback...visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. The receiver can actually see, hear, and feel there own natural harmonized essence. As these new resources are gathered and integrated into the actual body, more and more potential is released. One is offered the opportunity to disassemble and reassemble themselves over and over. Doing so can result in change, growth, and eventual transformation.
